In light of my new job, I unfortunately will have fewer hours to devote to my line. This by no means implies that I won't be designing, I just won't be able to produce a hefty volume for awhile. This also means that requesting custom projects is a good way to go, because I can easily work on those in my spare time as opposed to the time it takes designing and constructing new products completely from scratch. Now back to working on my line! Happy browsing,
Elena

A New Addition to Double Take Recycled...
Take a gander at the new addition to my recycled line! The Sea Breeze Tunic was made from a 100% organic cotton t shirt with lace embelishments, cutouts, an elastic waist to cinch it in, and remnants of a bridesmaid dress as waistline detail. Lots of love went into this unique piece! I am loving the re-/ de- construction garments that I have been designing... more to come. See the Etsy listing here or click the badge at the bottom of this post to browse my shop.

Introducing my New Recycled/ Reconstructed Line {Double Take}
Hello fashion friends! It's finally happened... for all the talk about my love of recycling garments and deconstruction/ reconstruction, I have taken the first steps and started a line called Double Take. I made a jacket out of an old fleece blanket using only materials I already had or that I have repurposed. I handstitched the blanket stitching around the edges with yarn, used wooden buttons, and added those essential pockets on the sideseams that zip shut. Hope you like what you see, this is just the first in a line to come... Feel free to post questions or comments, I love feedback. If you are interested, this jacket is listed in my Etsy shop as "Chill in the Desert Air Jacket"; just click on the Etsy badge at the end of this post and it will take you directly to my shop to browse. Otherwise, click here to go directly to this listing.

Festival Dresses
I went to Bastille days earlier today! For those of you who are not native Milwaukee, Wisconsinites, it is a festival celebrating French culture during their independence day. While walking around, I noticed tons of those jersey or cotton strapless dresses that have elastic gathers on the bodice or on the top and the waist. In that vein, I noticed that they were imported from Latin America, Thailand and India. Does anybody else think this is kind of a weird, exploiting practice? I'd love to hear what everyone thinks.

Business, but not as Usual...
I recently concocted a little treat for myself to celebrate my new business cards. What fun it is to whip up something fast and cute! The front flap is a fan stitch pattern with a buttonhole, the back is an owl comprised of cables and buttons for eyes, and the cardholding flap is a simple 2x2 rib. Because these are so customizable, I will be making these to custom order on Etsy, meaning you pick the stitch patterns, colors, yarn, closures... everything! They can also be used as credit card holders, coin purses (made slightly bigger), gift card containers, portable sewing kits, whatever your heart desires! Comment on this post if you want one, we can talk about what you would like, and I can create a cusom listing just for you on Etsy.

Back in the game
Well, folks, I'm back in the game! Sorry about the delay in both blogging and creating new stuff for Etsy! Work and making Christmas gifts has kept me a very, very busy bee, but that is changing as I type. I'll keep posting as projects come along and as I find unique things!
Always, Elena
